WhatIWore: The next few months are my personal favorite for getting dressed. I love layers, sweaters, jeans and boots but its still nice to be able to go bare ankled or push your sleeves up. In short - it’s comfortable! I’ve actually been wearing a version of this outfit a lot over the past week! My mother-in-law gave me the sweater, the jeans are maternity and the boots are new from Clarks, thanks to a gift card from Zappos (thank you!)

Last week I told you guys that I do a lot of online shopping and I think almost all of my shoes were purchased online, which is a little strange considering the fit is so important! I always look for sites that have multiple views (front, side, back, angled, top down) and a good return policy just in case (today’s post sponsor, Zappos, has both!!) I like wearing cute things, but I will not suffer for the sake of fashion, especially when it comes to footwear.  After wearing my Clarks sandals almost every day for two summer straight (these guys), I knew this low heeled desert boot would be super comfortable. So far, so good! I also chose a color (Khaki Suede) that I don’t already have in my closet - it’s not quite grey and it’s not carmel or chocolate brown either. Next time I think I’ll pair them with flared jeans, an olive jacket and a fall hat.

WhatIWore: After a long stretch of very hot days, we woke up to the mid sixties this morning so I reached for a pair of jeans I haven’t been able to wear in a month or so! I’ve been really into white eyelet tops this year and I picked this one up a while ago. I couldn’t decide whether or not to keep it because the boxy body plus the peplum seemed a little too wide. But I used an old trick of mine to temporarily tailor it in and I think it looks great now.

WhatIWore: Good morning, everyone! I hope your day is off to a nice start. It’s been tough waking up to the news these days, and I admit, it’s been really heavy on my heart. Writing about outfits just feels so shallow and unimportant. It’s something I’ve thought about a lot over my hiatus these past few weeks. The world feels like a very scary and hateful place to me right now and I’ve been less likely to put time and energy into getting ready or picking out clothes and instead just spending all of my time with my husband and son.

That said, showering is a good thing, and taking care of yourself is important. Yesterday I thought had a babysitter arranged (did not), so I took the time to get ready and put on a nice dress for a little pick me up. Plans (and clothes) changed and I ended up doing more of exactly what we’ve done all summer. Pushing the stroller, playing at the library, to the park park park, getting grass stains, playing in the dirt and quality outdoor time.

If I can put the rest of what I’m feeling into words, I hope I can share soon. In the meantime, I’m sending my love to Orlando, the parents, families and friends of the victims and to the LGBTQ community as a whole. When will this madness end?

WhatiWore: On my walk to talk these photos, I was trying to think up how to say “it’s the end of the season! I’ve remixed to my heart’s content!”  I’m ok wearing the same outfits over and over again. In the “real world” this is how most people get dressed, but I also kind of feel like as a person who runs a fashion blog I have to try harder or be more creative. I mean, that’s how I feel half of the time, or a fraction of the time actually, because what I’m trying to share is what a real person wears to do real things.

So anyway. I just caught my reflection and I thought, screw it! I like this dress! A lot! I’ve worn it tons of times and there’s no link to something similar and who cares! It doesn’t all have to be a show! It really can just be what I wear that makes me feel good or works when I’m running errands or around the house with a baby. And it can be new clothes some days too. It can be both! I’ve been getting closer and closer to this but it’s my goal to continue to march to my own drumbeat even more.

This dress has to be one of my closet all stars. It works year round - alone in the summer or layered with tights and boots for colder temps. It’s also great for nursing, although as we add more and more meals of solid food, I’m able to go longer periods between breastfeeding - which is great!
