WhatIWore: Happy Monday, all! Well, first things first, let’s chat about my new ‘do! I was 100% sure I was going to say goodbye to the bright blonde, but I was still thinking of an even more dramatic change. I asked on my Instagram stories if I should do bangs and really didn’t think I’d go through with it… until I got so many suggestions pull the trigger. So I did! Ta da!

I’m still rolling with my 70s Art Teacher vibe, but the cut also makes me feel a little indie Parisian, especially with red lipstick. With that in mind, stripes and high waisted jeans were my first outfit choice! The top is old and the jeans haven’t fit since before I had Felix!!

Another note on the jeans - I actually cropped them and put on a new hem as well as taking in the leg below the knee for a more skinny fit (they were the Elizabeth style from imogene + willie). I’ve been wearing them non stop for the past week or so!

WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore over the weekend to hit up the Goodwill 50% sale and the farmer’s market with my family. I’ve had a little pep in my step lately and have been a lot more inspired to put on an outfit, rather than just throwing on whatever (like a tee shirt and jean shorts). I’ve been going through my clothing in storage and found this top, which was the beginning of this whole outfit. it’s actually almost exactly like this one, the difference being my new boots instead of sandals.

And by new, I mean the pair I picked up for $6 the other day on a thrifting trip. Ahhh! Can you believe it? They’re real leather, fit great and are going to look perfect with my seventies themed fall wardrobe. I even started spiffing them up this weekend and I love the results.

When: August 5, 2017

What:
Shades:Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Necklace: Global Gifts (a little store here in town)
Blouse: ModCloth (from last spring)

What We Wore | Wedding Edition

What to wear to a wedding

What to wear to a wedding

WhatIWore: Over the weekend Adam and I got out of the house for a whole eight hours without the kids to celebrate our friends’ wedding in Indy. I wore my go-to wedding guest dress - a midi length navy number that’s in a stretch fabric and layered over a lace camisole for a little extra coverage. This has been a great dress for me. I first wore it about a year after Felix was born for our fifth wedding anniversary trip to Nashville. When I look at those photos I have hope that I’ll get my pre-baby bod back one of these days! Damn girl! The second time I wore it (and also to a wedding) I had just announced my pregnancy with Bea and I think it looks equally cute there! So if anything, this dress proves the case that a pretty stretch fabric goes a long way to accommodate before, during and after pregnancy! That’s my favorite kind of dress!

When: June 9, 2017

What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Dress: ModCloth (from a few years ago)
Shoes: Rockport (gift from previous partnership)

WhatiWore: I’m baaaacck! At least I’m trying to get back into the swing of taking outfit photos. A change in location (and the extra hands of family around) has been so helpful in getting back outside and into the groove. I promise you if I was in Indiana right now I wouldn’t be excited about posing in the freezing cold! But here’s what I wore for a beach walk in Florida!

If you’re not on Instagram or Facebook, the first thing you’re probably thinking right now is OMG YOU’RE BLONDE! I started the transition in late December and am getting closer and close to where I want to be with it. In the past it’s always taken me a while to adjust my wardrobe to “fit” a new cut, and the new color is challenging me in the same way.

Secondly - I had a baby! She’ll be making some cameos in the next few posts too! I’m biased but she’s sooooo cuuuuuutttte! Physically, I’m taking my time getting back to my pre-baby body. I’m about ten pounds from that now and all of that weight is in my top and middle (hence the shorts! Flaunt what you’ve got!) With a really curvy shape (read: giant boobs) plus the blonde hair, sometimes I feel a little too… sexy? I don’t know. It’s not something I aim for in day to day mommy life so I feel like I need to compensate for the bigger chest and blonde locks by going a little more on the modest side? Dressing this temporary body doesn’t come with a game plan other than easy access for nursing.

What I really want to say is that I feel pretty good, but still struggling a little with a different body to dress and I think it’s completely normal to have some issues with the adjustment. I was so flat as a teenager and wished for bigger boobs and now I wish I didn’t have such huge knockers to contend with!  You can love your baby and your body and still have times when you need to work harder emotionally to keep the self esteem up. Whenever a moment of doubt creeps in (it’s bound to happen!) I just remind myself - I’m so proud of my daughter! I’m so proud of myself!!! I MADE THAT BABY!!! WITH MY BODY!!!
