What I Wore | Rose and Olive

WhatIWore: Happy Monday everyone! I started off this morning bright and early and with a new routine! I have a babysitter hanging out with Felix this morning so I got ready to go and am typing away at the coffee shop solo. It’s been an hour and already feels a like a lifetime! It’s amazing what you can get done with focus and two free hands!

Does this dress look familiar? I wore it last Monday too! Isn’t it cool how a different jacket changes up the look so much? This olive army style jacket is part of my core closet and I wear it a lot. This color is such a great neutral because it works with so many other colors so well. I also like that this kind of casual piece layers with frilly dresses just as well as jeans.

What I Wore | Fifty Five

WhatIWore: You know when you look at the forecast in the spring and the temp is going to be around 55 and you bust out the sandals? And then when summer is coming to an end with the same temperature you just wanna put on some socks and booties? That’s how I felt this morning when I saw it was cool out. It just feels so good to wear boots again! 

After posting my denim inspiration board earlier this week, I’m sure some of you guessed that I’d add one to my closet. I actually wore this outfit to the playground (not intentionally…we made some last minute plans so I just went with it!) but it ended up being just fine! Now Felix is really on the move and was climbing up tunnels and down the slides and in a split second I’m like oh shit! and climbing right behind him. This kid really amazes me. I keep thinking this is the best phase! and then, he does something even more awesome and adorable and the love and pride I have for my son just explodes! Being a mom really suits me!

What I Wore | Dark Flares

WhatIWore: Yesterday Felix and I did a little mother son adventure by taking a road trip to the outlets to buy his fall clothes and go on a lunch date. He slept the whole way there and back (about an hour each way) and was such a fun little buddy to shop with! I think I might do a round up of what we found because it’s a) cute but b) not too cute. Know what I mean?

But speaking of cute - I felt like a hot mom babe in this outfit! I really like that it’s so simple, but with my cool hair it looks…. cooler? Yeah! It looks cool. I’m pretty happy with a basic tee and jean get up that makes me feel so good. Even your easy outfits should make you feel like you’re bringing your A game.

What I Wore | Drumbeat

WhatiWore: On my walk to talk these photos, I was trying to think up how to say “it’s the end of the season! I’ve remixed to my heart’s content!”  I’m ok wearing the same outfits over and over again. In the “real world” this is how most people get dressed, but I also kind of feel like as a person who runs a fashion blog I have to try harder or be more creative. I mean, that’s how I feel half of the time, or a fraction of the time actually, because what I’m trying to share is what a real person wears to do real things. 

So anyway. I just caught my reflection and I thought, screw it! I like this dress! A lot! I’ve worn it tons of times and there’s no link to something similar and who cares! It doesn’t all have to be a show! It really can just be what I wear that makes me feel good or works when I’m running errands or around the house with a baby. And it can be new clothes some days too. It can be both! I’ve been getting closer and closer to this but it’s my goal to continue to march to my own drumbeat even more.

This dress has to be one of my closet all stars. It works year round - alone in the summer or layered with tights and boots for colder temps. It’s also great for nursing, although as we add more and more meals of solid food, I’m able to go longer periods between breastfeeding - which is great!
