How’s everyone hanging in there? We’re pretty good, all things considered. Thanks to help from family and friends, the adjustment from one to two kids has been smooth. Kids! Plural!!! It feels so good to say that.

I have been working on our birth story for Beatrix and I hope to share that within a week or so, but in the meantime, I’m so happy to finally get some snaps with both kiddos at the same time. Let me tell you - not an easy feat! I don’t know how people manage to wrangle a toddler and capture a newborn awake, let alone get a frame with mom smiling, all at once!

Bea is so tiny that even the newborn stuff is a little big on her (see her candy heart sleeper here). I actually picked up a bunch adorable of 0-3 month Valentine new arrivals (from our longtime blog sponsors, Old Navy - thank you!) to match Felix but we need to do a little growing before she’ll be ready. Promise to post to #WhatBeaWore on Instagram when she fills them out! You can see what pieces I picked out below.

Felix picked out his own shirt today. I had laid out his “Brother Like No Other” shirt, but this is what he wanted. He also wanted to leave it unbuttoned, but #idontthinkso. He’s becoming such a big boy - so funny and curious with such a hilarious personality. And yes, we had to bribe him with snacks (although I’m happy to report we’ve kicked the TicTac habit completely ;)

Thanks to our post sponsors, Old Navy, who have generously provided gift cards to purchase the kids’ clothes you see here. Their new arrivals are online and in stores now, including cute Valentine’s for babies and toddler boys and girls.

WhatIWore: As I mentioned yesterday, we’re doing our annual family trip to the woods soon and in preparation I picked up a few new things for Felix from Old Navy (today’s post sponsor!) He’s pretty well set with long pants and boots for the season (his cargo pants were a birthday gift from Nana and we got the boots about a month ago (which he also wore here), but he needed a few warmer pieces to round things out. When I saw this buffalo plaid vest, I loved it, but my practical momsense had me wondering - would he actually wear it? Without a fight?

So I asked him! Do you like this vest? Would you wear this sweater? To my surprise, he gave me a very clear ‘yes’ at the store and getting him dressed in these pieces went equally as smooth!

We also got a few long sleeved tees with a woodland theme (this raccoon one and this wild one) along with a licensed IU tee because we have homecoming this weekend. (Felix is newly obsessed with spotting the IU logo and yelling IU! IU! at the top of his lungs. Adorable.) I picked up a knit hat too, but he was all ‘no no no’ when I tried getting it on this morning. Maybe when it’s chilly enough, he’ll give in!

I should also fess up that had some ulterior motives with these photos…. along the lines of our family Christmas card! Adam is such a talented photographer, which means he’s usually not in the photos, but Felix makes for a handsome little family ambassador, right? These pictures capture his spunky and mischievous personality so well. Plus with less than three months before baby girl arrives, I’m taking care of anything I can, while I can. Also, never got around to Holiday cards last year, so I feel like I’m ahead of the game now. And yes… he’s clutching onto a box of Tic Tacs for dear life. A handy example of my parenting “whatever it takes” philosophy.

Today’s post has been sponsored by our long time partners at Old Navy (including a gift card we used to purchase these pieces). From now until October 16, use code THANKYOU to save 30% off your order!

WhatIWore: Some days you just want to wear black, ya know? Not in a head to toe kind of way, but just because it seems to be the easiest option. At least, that’s what I thought to myself as I was picking out what to wear this morning.  I rarely do an entire look en noir, and mix it up through shoes and accessories. In today’s case, I stayed neutral but still let my bag and boots pop a bit.

I’ve been eagerly waiting to wear this new Coach Chelsea Crossbody (a gift of Zappos, thanks guys!) on the blog. I love my totes and bigger bags, but there’s something really handy about having that long cross body strap when you’re running errands or corralling a little one. I’ve also mentioned that this season I’ve moved away from buying black bags and into different colored leather. I chose this shade of gray because a) I don’t have anything like it and b) because it’s neutral enough to wear with everything. A win win!

WhatIWore: The next few months are my personal favorite for getting dressed. I love layers, sweaters, jeans and boots but its still nice to be able to go bare ankled or push your sleeves up. In short - it’s comfortable! I’ve actually been wearing a version of this outfit a lot over the past week! My mother-in-law gave me the sweater, the jeans are maternity and the boots are new from Clarks, thanks to a gift card from Zappos (thank you!)

Last week I told you guys that I do a lot of online shopping and I think almost all of my shoes were purchased online, which is a little strange considering the fit is so important! I always look for sites that have multiple views (front, side, back, angled, top down) and a good return policy just in case (today’s post sponsor, Zappos, has both!!) I like wearing cute things, but I will not suffer for the sake of fashion, especially when it comes to footwear.  After wearing my Clarks sandals almost every day for two summer straight (these guys), I knew this low heeled desert boot would be super comfortable. So far, so good! I also chose a color (Khaki Suede) that I don’t already have in my closet - it’s not quite grey and it’s not carmel or chocolate brown either. Next time I think I’ll pair them with flared jeans, an olive jacket and a fall hat.
