Snow Day

            Lands End Cream Aran Turtleneck

WhatIWore: I love a winter snow day. Not a blizzard or a power outage, but a good old fashion snow day. We actually took these pictures last time it snowed and I just now got around to editing them. I’m wearing a lot of my casual winter favorites - a hand knit hat, a thick wool peacoat and my trusty cream sweater. Practical and pulled together for an average every day.

When: February 2016

What:
Hat: Self Made
Striped Turtleneck: J.Crew
Cream Cableknit Turtleneck: Land’s End
Peacoat: J.Crew
Jeans: J.Crew
Boots: Hunter

Where: Morning work session and afternoon shopping

Karen Walker 'Super Duper' in Crazy Tort

WhatIWore: I wasn’t really sure of this outfit when I stepped out the door, but looking at it now - I like it! Weirdly I think what makes it work is how I did my bangs off to the side a bit. Looks a little parisienne, non?

This is the sweater I blogged about a couple of weeks ago. Ever the perfectionist (I’m working on lightening up, promise), I went back and ripped out the hem so I could fix how I binded off (in a rib pattern to provide more stretch). I opted to leave the sleeves intact but to wet them and pop the entire sweater in the dryer. I actually think I could probably try that again with a little higher heat and let it shrink up even more. That said, the fit is still nice if not a little roomy in some places (sleeves, neckline), but that’s alright with me.

When: October 19, 2015

What:
Lipstick: NARS Red Lizard
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in crazy tort
Neckscarf: vintage (men’s pocket squares can work too!)
Sweater: Self made (more info here, cute options here)
Leather Jacket: Tracy Reese (similar)
Jeans: Frame ‘Le Flare’ Highrise

Where: Coffee Shop and Errands

WhatIWore: Doing laundry can do a lot for your wardrobe. Case in point - these jeans sat in the dirty pile for over a week and jumped out of rotation. Now that they’re back, I’m reinspired! Something about this style pushes me to go a little more edgy (for me, not in general. I totally realize Jessica does not, nor will ever be truly edgy). Just a little more funky. I think the hat weirdly does that too, with it’s slouchy appeal. I actually made it myself!

What:
Hat: Self Made (free pattern off of Ravelry)
Shades: Cactus Flower (old)
Sweater: J.Crew
Jeans: J.Crew (sold out, but similar style without rips/patches)
Field Jacket: J.Crew
Boots: Frye
On Felix: Bear Suit - Columbia, Hat - Marie Chantal
Where:

Running Errands, taking papa lunch

Why: So after knitting my first sweater and practically going cross eyed, I stopped knitting for the majority of the year (making Felix a hat and that’s it) and was feeling in the mood to make something so I started on this hat. I got a stitch off around Christmas, got totally frusterated and started ripping it out, only to have a change of heart and decided to try and life line it (which worked!) I finished it a couple of weeks ago but this is it’s first time on the blog.

What I Wore | Pretty Woman

Maternity Style, #dressthebump, Pregnancy Style, Jessica Quirk, 3rd Trimester, Summer pregnancy, @whatiwore

WhatIWore: Here’s one of the later additions to my maternity wardrobe, a pretty polka dot knit that kinda sorta reminds me of Julia Robert’s wardrobe in Pretty Woman. I’m feeling more pregnant than ever! Baby is growing right on track and packing on the pounds and I’m perfecting the art of waddling gracefully. Despite slowing down, I feel great!

When: July 22, 2014

What:
Shades: Fred Flare (old)
Dress: ASOS maternity (different colorway)
Bag: Coach
Bracelet: Self Made DIY
Shoes: Sole Society

Where: Work session at the coffee shop

I’m definitely riding the fine line between loving this stage in pregnancy and just being really anxious to meet my bebe. Fiveish weeks to go! I’ve been re-reading my favorite pregnancy and childbirth books and feeling really excited as I prepare for the big day. I still need to pack a bag for the hospital, wash all those tiny onsies and get the car seat set up, but not much left to check off our list!
