WhatIWore: One of the things I look forward to all week is the Saturday morning farmer’s market in town. Our first stop is always Sweet Claire’s and their amazing pastries and then we find a spot in the shade to eat and plan out our shopping. This time of year everything looks so good! Felix has been really into taking photos lately, so I let him take a few snaps here and there (the basket of flowers was his shot!) Nine out of ten are blurry but occasionally he gets something really good.

WhatIWore: In my younger days, this is the style of dress I would definitely throw a belt on. It’s a caftan, right? I think it’s a caftan! It’s so hot and humid right now and the thought of anything that’s not loose and breezey (air flow, people!) is not appealing. But this kind of dress just feels right on a day like today! For reference I’m wearing a small!

It’s a relatively dark piece for summer, so I’ve brightened it up with a colorful bag I bought a few vacations ago and a summery bright lipstick. (I wore it earlier this spring with another chambray dress here!)  I haven’t been able to wear any eye makeup for over a week (pink eye, ugh) but I think I might be just about done with it. Hope you’re having a nice week where ever you are!

When: July 21, 2016

WhatIWore: Behind that smile is a sick and tired mama. I thought I could soldier on and go out to a coffee shop to work (really trying to step up productivity around WIW lately!), but instead I threw on some pajama pants and went straight to bed after we took these photos. First Adam got sick at the end of our trip, then Felix kinda/sorta got it (his immune system is incredible, thanks breastfeeding!) and after taking care of everyone else… mom gets sick. I thought I almost got by without getting the bug, but my throat feels like stabbing knives and I’m soooo tired. Boo hoo.

I wore this kind of outfit a lot last summer (see here and here). I like this skirt a lot as an alternative to shorts - it pairs nicely with tee shirts and I actually wore it yesterday afternoon too! I like the combo of stripes and polka dots as well. Luckily for me, there always at least one striped shirt in the clean laundry pile (because it feels like that’s the only thing I buy anymore… other than white eyelet tops!) Anyway… I’m gonna grab a cup of tea and sort out lunch for the little guy and then plop our bums on the couch for a movie marathon afternoon. You gotta do what you’ve gotta do, right?

And if you’re wondering why I tried at all… it might be our last sunny day for a week (!!) and I didn’t shower - just some BB cream, sunglasses and a half assed attempt at freshening up my hair!

When: July 12, 2016

WhatIWore: Good morning! I hope you had a nice weekend, spending time with your loved ones! Not every American was so lucky after the recent wave of violence and tragedy. I wrote a post about it yesterday and I’d like for you to take the time to read it. We must take action!

It feels a little strange to switch gears and post outfit photos, but as many of you reminded me a few weeks ago, it’s good to go on with our daily lives as we cope with the sadness and anger so many of use are feeling.

It’s been a while since I’ve done my hair or worn makeup. I felt really comfortable with a bare face and air dried hair over the past few weeks, but I also felt really pretty this morning after I got ready!  I thought a skirt would be a nice contrast to the jean shorts I’ve worn for days on end.  This is the sort of thing I’d wear if I worked an office job - it’s pulled together but still has a cool, summery feeling.

When: July 11, 2016

What
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Top: thrifted
Skirt: Zara, older style (similar in black, or olive)
Belt: Target
Sandals: gift from Clark’s, last summer

Where: Coffee Shop work session

See Also: More ways I’ve worn this navy lace pencil skirt… it’s surprisingly versatile!  A tee shirt, an army jacket, a white blouse or a tied chambray shirt!
