WhatIWore: One of the things that’s important to me on the blog is to share the kinds of things I really wear on any given day. I’ve hinted at some of my frustrations lately and one of them is the unending cycle of buy buy buy that seems to been required to keep up a fashion blog. And I’m not slamming shopping. I like shopping! But I do not like the idea of disposable clothing or only wearing something once. I wear my clothes often, especially if I really like something. I hope you feel like you can repeat (and repeat and repeat) the pieces in your closet that make you feel good, regardless if they’re this season or ten seasons old.

Take this dress for example! I bought it (with the matching jacket!) last fall and I’ve worn both pieces quite a bit. It layers nicely with a jacket or tights, but is a cute sundress with flat sandals and a hat too! Click below to see the other ways I’ve styled it!

When: June(ish?)

What:
Hat: Self Made:
Shades: Karen Walker
Dress: Banana Republic
Sandals: Birkenstocks

Where: Out and About with Felix

See Also: Worn with a pink jacket and sandals, an olive jacket and boots and layered with tights, all from last fall.

WhatIWore: This weekend something awesome happened - a huge wave of inspiration hit me and I’m currently obsessed with all things seventies. A lot of times people go to just bell bottoms or disco when they think of the seventies, but a lot can happen with fashion in a decade. This look is probably more on the tail end - maybe 78 or 79. The vintage skirt actually is from the seventies too!

When: July 20, 2015

What:
Shades: Oldies
Tee: J.Crew (sold out, but more stripes here)
Belt: Vintage
Skirt: Vintage, Cherry Canary Vintage
Bag: Boutique in Hong Kong (old)
Wedges: House of Harlow (old)

See Also: This striped tee with a yellow printed skirt (probably my favorite outfit this summer) and with a short black skirt and hat

So here’s something I’m working on these days - being more body positive. I’ll put it out there - I’m not a fan of my nursing bosom and I often feel very self conscious about these ginormous jugs (I went up 3 sizes after having my son). To counter those feelings (which I think all women have regarding some part of their bodies), I’m going to start highlighting something nice with each set of photos.

Today I like the way my legs look with this full skirt and high wedges! Now… you go look in the mirror and say something nice to yourself!

WhatIWore: Gooooood morning! Just slowly getting back into the swing of things in our world after a long beautiful weekend at the lake. Lots of photos to come this week, including a morning spent inside a couple of bee hives, tracking down the queen and generally checking out the health of the group.

I’m really enjoying being able to wear more of my older pieces, including a lot of vintage dresses that were set aside during last summer’s pregnancy. I’ve worn this dress a lot in the past and at this point, I don’t do much to try and switch it up or make it different. It’s fine on it’s own!

When: July 6, 2015

What:
Shades:Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in Crazy Tort
Dress: Vintage
Belt: Thrifted
Coin Charm Bracelet: Self Made DIY (here)
Bag: Boutique in Hong Kong, old

WhatIWore: We really lucked out with gorgeous weather this weekend. It was cool and sunny and it’s just nice not to sweat through your clothes the second you step out of the door, right? I bought this dress a while ago but only wore it for the first time this weekend. Initially I tried styling it with the matching belt, but it didn’t work proportionally with the loops, so instead I put on one of my oldie but goodie thrifted numbers at my natural waist. I like it!

I also finally found this necklace which I was looking for all over the house for the past week. This makes me think a) I need to get a little more organized and b) I have too much stuff and downsizing would help aforementioned organization. The truth is that new things do spark inspiration in me but I tend to keep coming back to my favorite old pieces so it’s just about purging the inbetween.

When: June 27, 2015

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in Crazy Tort
Necklace: Gift from Adam
Dress: Old Navy (sold out, but shirt here)
Belt: Thrifted
Bag: Boutique in Hong Kong, super old
Sandals: Clark’s, gift (kinda similar)

Where: Out and About in Bloomington

I wore this dress out to breakfast with the boys and then over at the deck at Cardinal Spirits. Adam had an event in my hometown, so while he was on the road, I camped out on the patio while Felix napped and had a summer cocktail! My phone was almost dead so I just faced the B-line trail and enjoyed a drink without distractions and it was… so nice! Later that night I left my phone at home and last weekend, I shattered the front glass so it’s been really nice to go dark during friend time, even if it means less photos of Felix doing adorable things.
