WhatIWore: Some winter in the not so distant future (three? four years?), I’m going to attempt my own top down multicolored fair isle sweater. Sadly, this is not the year. I doubt next year will be either.

In the meantime, they’re on an on trend piece, so they’re available at a variety of price points from different stores. I spotted this one, hiding behind a brighter cousin, last weekend. I love the muted neutral tones and believe it or not, it’s not a maternity style. It under $40 but looks so much more lux to me!!

I’ve styled it in my go-to casual yet (kinda?) chic uniform. Jeans, OTK boots, big sunglasses and a hat. The boots seem to balance out my bump nicely and they’re warm and comfortable. Bonus points for getting up, getting ready, and getting out the door in under a half hour!

When: November 17, 2016

Fair Isle Sweater: Old Navy

WhatIWore: I love having something in my closet that inspires an outfit. Today’s look is based off my recently finished fair isle knit hat! Recent as in twenty minutes before we took these photos!! Normally we do our shoots in the morning as we head off to work, but this afternoon Adam is having some quality daddy-son time so I’m able to grab a couple hours of writing and editing photos.

But can we talk about the hat for a sec? It’s actually all scraps or small skeins I had hanging out in my stash! It came together pretty quickly too! The top is a very pale pink used for my first fair isle sweater (seen here) and the blue and black are cashmere (so soft! so lux!) that I bought a couple of years ago right before I totally burnt out on knitting for the season. I used a sweater I saw in the J.Crew catalog as inspiration for the pattern and just sort of made things up as I went!

WhatIWore: I feel like most of my wardrobe choices lately have gone in the way of neutrals but on a rainy day like today, I need something merry and bright to cheer me up! This is another sweater I scored at Old Navy when I was working on this post and I just love the colors and the supersized fair isle design. Some day I’m going to attempt to knit my own similar version (most likely in a thicker worsted weight wool) but for now, I’m happy with this cutie.

WhatIWore: Here’s a quick look at what I wore on Sunday morning for a run to the grocery story. We’ve been loving our meals for this year’s edition of the Whole 30 and honestly, it makes me really happy to see a cart full of beautiful, healthy food. Also, our Kroger just got a make over and it’s insane! They were frying up hot donuts! They have a rotating sushi bar! I treated myself to a green juice instead but I will no doubt give into temptations down the road!

When: January 11, 2015

What
Hat:: Nordstrom Rack
Shades: Karen Walker
Chambray: J.Crew Factory (similar)
Sweater: Tracy Reese
Jeans: J.Crew
Booties: Rag + Bone

Where: Weekend errands

Why: I’m into sweaters so much more this year than ever before. This faded neon version is from a couple years ago and one of the brighter pieces in my current closet. I’ve been resorting to the same muted palette a lot since Felix came along but I’d like to get more into a colorful groove!
