WhatIWore: Some winter in the not so distant future (three? four years?), I’m going to attempt my own top down multicolored fair isle sweater. Sadly, this is not the year. I doubt next year will be either.

In the meantime, they’re on an on trend piece, so they’re available at a variety of price points from different stores. I spotted this one, hiding behind a brighter cousin, last weekend. I love the muted neutral tones and believe it or not, it’s not a maternity style. It under $40 but looks so much more lux to me!!

I’ve styled it in my go-to casual yet (kinda?) chic uniform. Jeans, OTK boots, big sunglasses and a hat. The boots seem to balance out my bump nicely and they’re warm and comfortable. Bonus points for getting up, getting ready, and getting out the door in under a half hour!

WhatIWore: Good morning all! Hope you had a nice weekend. I’m throwing things back to last Thursday for today’s post. Here’s what I wore for a quick visit to a branding and marketing class at IU that a friend of mine teaches. I love being on campus and with students! This particular course was in the newly renovated Kirkwood Hall, which is home to the new School of Art + Design. I’ve been hearing about these plans for over a year and it’s really amazing to see everything come together so quickly!

When: October 13, 2016

What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Sweater: ModCloth (last year)
Maternity Dress: JCPenney
Tights: We Love Colors
Bag: J.Crew
Booties: Rag + Bone

Where: On campus visit

I’m all about this type of cozy yet pulled together type of outfit - it’s perfect for a crisp and gray morning. Everything is knit, so it’s got the comfort factor, but it’s not yoga pants, ya know? It’s kind of hard to put into words, but do you ever have those days when the thought of wearing pants feels far too constricting? Even when I’m not pregnant I feel like that some days! PANTS. That’s how I felt the morning I wore this. Also worth mentioning - the dress is navy and gray stripes and I’m wearing it with black tights and boots. I felt the combination of the dress with the bluish toned gray sweater was enough to balance out the tights that don’t necessarily match. I also think this dress will be cute with an olive jacket and booties for a little more of a casual setting!

What I Wore on What I Wore

WhatIWore: Hello! It’s freezing! Actually, it’s below freezing and was 18 degrees when we took these photos. I bundled up with my Icelandic sweater I bought on my honeymoon, layered over another turtleneck with jeans, boots and a wool coat. Nothing in this outfit is super new - I’ve had each piece for a few years minus the boots. I know I’ve said this more than once in the past few weeks, but I feel so good just wearing what strikes me, regardless if it’s new or old, flashy or simple, glamourous or basic. My confidence is growing and the inspiration I’m feeling in my wardrobe is overflowing into other areas of my life as well. This morning when Adam took these photos he said “Jess, you look pretty and happy today!” And I am!

WhatIWore: We did something so great this weekend - we went to a sing-a-long viewing of The Sound of Music. I remember  watching it on tv around Christmas time when I was a little girl and it’s one of those movies I’ve pretty much memorized word for word. Saturday was my first time seeing it on the big screen and what a difference! I had chills and teared up so many times! It was also Felix’s first time in a movie theatre and he did great, but we only stayed for the first hour and a half.

I wanted to look Christmasy but it was nearly 70s degrees out! I opted for something that slightly references a 1950s winter look - the small fair isle sweater, full skirt and booties. I think it’s because of all of the old school holiday movies, but I always want to dress in vintage or retro styles during this time of year.
