WhatIWore: Here’s a look at my uniform of late - the updated mom on duty outfit. Sneakers, a track jacket, leggings or joggers and tee are my go-to pieces at least three or four days a week. I feel pulled together and appropriate for the playground and grocery alike. I have ambitions of returning to my pre-baby style (or pre-Bea style) when I can but I really do have to keep reminding myself to be a little more forgiving. On so many things. Maybe you’ve been there with your own children or maybe you’re yet to experience the adjustment. Sometimes I feel really defensive going into writing these posts, like I have to prove myself to someone or explain why clothes aren’t that important to me right now. Or why I’m not keeping the same pace as other bloggers or even the same pace as I did with having my first baby. I’m not asking for a pity party or anything, I’m just figuring it all out and Adam keeps reminding me that the people that enjoy this blog will be around when I do!

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Jacket: Adidas
Tee Shirt: American Apparel
Leggings: Old Navy
Sneakers: Adidas Gazelles

Ok! Enough about feeeeeeeeliiinnnngs and onto a couple of notes about the pieces I have on. When I was a kid I was so envious of the other kids who got real adidas. I had the two striped knock off version and thought that one day I’d have my own pair. I really tried to get on board with the white Superstars (they look so cute on other girls!), but they made my feet look so huge and I doubted white sneakers would make it long staying white. So I ordered these and went down a half size and I love ‘em! No breaking in, totally comfortable, A+ sneaks.

My nursing mamas have asked about what kind of tops I gravitate towards and a deep V neck is one of them. I’ve actually been more of a pull-up-my-shirt nurser this time around, but when I have the baby wrap on, it’s easier to go through the V. This one is old and from American Apparel (it’s uni-sex).

Lastly - all moms will feel me on having a jacket with easy to access pockets. I’ve usually got a couple pacifiers and a chapstick in each one!

What I Wore | Christmas Casual

WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore yesterday for a little mommy/baby playgroup with some of my girlfriends. I’ve been into the idea of retro sneakers for a while now and decided that a pair of black and white Nikes would be super practical for my current lifestyle. Day in, day out, I wear a lot of black and white, but ‘tis the season y'all, so I threw on a Christmasy red plaid scarf. In the spring when it’s still chilly I can see swapping it out for a pastel like mint to feel fresh.

And while I’m thinking of sneakers - what do you call them? Growing up my mom always called athletic shoes “tennies” and when I was in high school, I just called them running shoes.

What I Wore | Simple Sunday

Simple Sunday on @whatiwore, Weekend Outfit, Early Maternity Style

WhatIWore: While the highlight of my twenties may have been getting dolled up and heading out to the bars, there’s nothing I enjoy more in my thirties than a relaxed Sunday with my husband.  Yesterday we had a nice breakfast, took a drive in the country, picked up some house plants and planned for our yard at the nursery and then had a late brunch. Sure, I covered up my dirty hair with a baseball cap yet still dragged the DSLR into the green house to take photos… because yep! that’s totally normal. Click through for my casual head to toe…

What I Wore | Running Around

WhatIWore:  Inspired by my Retro Sneaker board, I decided to give the look a try for myself! One key element that made it work for me: Keep it sporty overall. I tried a few different everyday blouses and jackets but they looked disconnected.  It’s also key to go with a fitted pant instead of something baggy, like sweats.  I like a ponte knit pant which is much thicker knit than a workout legging and a little more dressed up. Aim to balance proportions with a longer top or puffy coat!
