What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore the other day to my check up with my OB… and we actually took these photos in the parking lot! I’ve been eagerly awaiting some changing leaves so when we saw this bright red tree, we pulled out the camera and started snapping!

Nothing in this outfit is maternity, believe it or not! I bought this skirt a few years ago (here’s how I wore it back then - which is one of my favorite outfits of all time!) and the stretch of the knit (and a partially zipped zipper in back!) turned out to be pretty comfy and accommodated my growing belly.

When: October 11, 2016

What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Necklace: Madewell (on sale!)
Jacket: Old Navy (similar options here)
Tee Shirt: Target
Skirt: ModCloth (older style)
Booties: Rag and Bone

Where: OB apt, coffee shop

See Also: two other ways I’ve worn this jacket - one maternity, one not

As I mentioned last time I posted a doctor’s apt outfit (it’s a thing, I guess?), I like to wear roughly the same thing every time I go in for my appointments - something that weighs about the same and is easy to shimmy down for the doc to listen to my belly.

I cannot believe I’m already at 6 months pregnant!!! These past three months have gone by so fast - probably because I’ve been feeling better than the first pregnancy. I’m working on my second trimester recap and will be posting that next week for anyone who is interested!

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: Hey guys! My scholarly houndstooth jacket finally arrived at the end of last week! This is pretty close to the outfit I was imagining for my first wear (see my inspiration board here). I’m feeling major Annie Hall vibes this morning, which I never expected would work during pregnancy. I usually think of high waisted pants as a defining silhouette of the look, which obviously don’t work when you’re six months pregnant. That said, the combo of the blazer, the flares and neck scarf all come together just right!!  La-ti-da!

The jacket is my regular size but the chambray and jeans are maternity pieces (the later was a gift of a Pea in the Pod - thanks guys!) I also sized down on this pair of flare/boot cut jeans and love the fit and length. Loving this brand so much that I will absolutely be treating myself to a postpartum pair when I return to my regular size (I’m in no rush though!)

When: October 10, 2016

What:
Hat: Self Made
Shades: Cactus Flower
Silk Neck Scarf: Vintage
Chambray (maternity): Target
Blazer: J.Crew
Jeans: AG, a gift of A Pea in the Pod (regular sizes here)
Tote Bag: J.Crew
Boots: Clarks (in khaki suede), a gift of Zappos

Where: Coffee Shop

Another thing I really like about this outfit is my own little formula I’ve attempted to do more of since coming up with it last winter.

  1. Something vintage
  2. Something handmade
  3. Something I haven’t worn in a while

My vintage piece is the silk scarf (which I’ve also been tying to the handle of my handbag lately) and the handmade piece is my hat (here are some behind the scenes photos of making it, and another way I’ve styled it in the past). The last rule kinda of sort of works with my chambray and it’s something I can work on even more in the future (truthfully works best without the sartorial limits of pregnancy/nursing!!)

Last but not least, I could use your feedback something from you guys. I have just enough buttons to update the ones that came with this blazer (they look like this). I used some brown shoe polish on them to darker them up and they’re the perfect shade of brown. The bright metallic buttons are a little flashy for me, but also stylistically work with this kind of tailored piece. The brown leather would too. So keep the brass or update to the leather?

WhatIWore: Some days you just want to wear black, ya know? Not in a head to toe kind of way, but just because it seems to be the easiest option. At least, that’s what I thought to myself as I was picking out what to wear this morning.  I rarely do an entire look en noir, and mix it up through shoes and accessories. In today’s case, I stayed neutral but still let my bag and boots pop a bit.

I’ve been eagerly waiting to wear this new Coach Chelsea Crossbody (a gift of Zappos, thanks guys!) on the blog. I love my totes and bigger bags, but there’s something really handy about having that long cross body strap when you’re running errands or corralling a little one. I’ve also mentioned that this season I’ve moved away from buying black bags and into different colored leather. I chose this shade of gray because a) I don’t have anything like it and b) because it’s neutral enough to wear with everything. A win win!

Inspired By | Moto Jacket & Cozy Knits

Leather Jacket Outfit, Moto Jacket Outfit, Moto Jacket and Sweater, Moto Jacket and Layers, Fall Outfit

WhatIWore: The weatherman is telling us a big change is around the corner and YES! I couldn’t be more excited. I’m looking forward to wearing more of my leather moto jackets and one way that’s really appealing to me right now is layering them with cozy knits. It’s such a simple pairing really, and most of you probably already have both in your wardrobe! I do! (See my core closet for fall and winter here).

I tend to wear bulkier pieces (like a chunky knit sweater) with a slimmer cut on bottom. I’m thinking skinny jeans and any kind of boots! I’ve yet to break out my black over the knee boots this season and I think this could be cute. Or maybe those buckle booties to coordinate with the metal on the jacket?

I also think doing a messier hairstyle (and maybe even a hat) looks really cool with a leather jacket too. I’m excited to rock this look next week. Would you wear something like this?

Also! I’ve updated my sidebar with all a tab for all of my collages. Looking at how other women have put things together always helps me when I feel like I have nothing to wear. Check it out!
