WhatIWore: Hey guys! My scholarly houndstooth jacket finally arrived at the end of last week! This is pretty close to the outfit I was imagining for my first wear (see my inspiration board here). I’m feeling major Annie Hall vibes this morning, which I never expected would work during pregnancy. I usually think of high waisted pants as a defining silhouette of the look, which obviously don’t work when you’re six months pregnant. That said, the combo of the blazer, the flares and neck scarf all come together just right!! La-ti-da!
The jacket is my regular size but the chambray and jeans are maternity pieces (the later was a gift of a Pea in the Pod - thanks guys!) I also sized down on this pair of flare/boot cut jeans and love the fit and length. Loving this brand so much that I will absolutely be treating myself to a postpartum pair when I return to my regular size (I’m in no rush though!)
When: October 10, 2016

Another thing I really like about this outfit is my own little formula I’ve attempted to do more of since coming up with it last winter.
- Something vintage
- Something handmade
- Something I haven’t worn in a while
My vintage piece is the silk scarf (which I’ve also been tying to the handle of my handbag lately) and the handmade piece is my hat (here are some behind the scenes photos of making it, and another way I’ve styled it in the past). The last rule kinda of sort of works with my chambray and it’s something I can work on even more in the future (truthfully works best without the sartorial limits of pregnancy/nursing!!)
Last but not least, I could use your feedback something from you guys. I have just enough buttons to update the ones that came with this blazer (they look like this). I used some brown shoe polish on them to darker them up and they’re the perfect shade of brown. The bright metallic buttons are a little flashy for me, but also stylistically work with this kind of tailored piece. The brown leather would too. So keep the brass or update to the leather?
