What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: I’m mellllttting! It has been really hot and humid here lately. A heat dome? It’s pretty tough to be outside for an extended period of time unless you get out early in the day. My inlaws were in town yesterday to have lunch and then play with Felix so Adam and I could get out. And what’s the perfect thing to do when it feels like 102 degrees out? Go bowling!! I had so much fun, but to put it nicely, I could use some practice.

When: July 24, 2016

What
Shades: Prada (found mine for $30 at a consignment store!)
Dress: Old Navy (via gift card last spring)
Backpack: gift of Vera Bradley a couple years ago
Sandals: gift of Clark’s from last summer

Where: Lunch at Farm, and later bowling!

I always find it most challenging to get dressed at the end of a season when you’re tired of your summer things, but it’s brutally hot outside. I was looking at the latest J.Crew new arrivals and saw a cute striped outfit combining different stripes on different pieces. I initially tied another striped shirt around my waist to get the same effect, but it cut up the silhouette more than adding to it. Oh well! At least stripes look great all year round!

WhatIWore: This weekend we took Felix to his first football game and it was Homecoming! Earlier in the week I went out looking for a little IU jacket, but even little sweatshirts were $30, so I skipped it and just put him in a cream sweater he already had and added on an IU pin from my jewelry box. Paired with a red plaid shirt (like his daddy!) and a cream and crimson striped hat, we were all ready to go!

We went into the game for the first quarter and Felix totally loved it! He’s really into clapping and when the crowd would cheer, he’d get excited and echo whatever he heard. My little Hoosier!!

Karen Walker Super Duper in Black

WhatIWore: I have the personality type that can get really excited. So excited that I jump up and down and say outloud “I’m so excited!!!!” over and over again. Like a kiddo at Christmas. That’s how I felt this weekend! Indiana’s homecoming was this weekend and although we lost the game, had a really fun time walking through campus and tailgating with friends (photos to come!).

This is what I wore for the game. When you live in a college town, are an alum and have a major love for IU sports, you’ll rack up a lot of team apparel. This time, I wanted to do something a little different and go for an old school sort of IU outfit. Adam gave me this vintage IU tamoshanter he found online a couple Christmases ago and I recently added this bright red fair isle sweater to my wardrobe. I love how they look together. And for those of you with eagle eyes (I don’t know if you can really see it!), I even wore my Delta Gamma anchor pin (ITB, y’all!) To finish it all off, wearing my favorite bright red lipstick!

When: October 17, 2015

What:
Hat: Vintage
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Sweater: Lands’ End
Anchor Pin: from my old sorority days at DG
Jeans: J.Crew
Boots: Ariat (gift)

For my original outfit, I had on a different pair of black boots, but when push comes to shove, I decided to wear flat boots. We walked a couple miles to and from the stadium and stood for most of the time we were there. Heels are cute, but there’s a time and place for everything, ya know?

Also! For any IU students who are interested, I’ll be giving a talk this Wednesday evening on campus on how to transition your wardrobe from college to career as a part of the Life After IU series. More info here!

What I Wore | To Market

Bloomington Farmer's Market, Peonies, Jessica Quirk, @whatiwore

WhatIWore: We’ve had a chilly streak the past couple of days. It’s been in the low 40s every morning and for our Saturday farmer’s market, I decided to bundle up with boots, a leather jacket, and a scarf. Between the peonies and the nutella crêpe, it was an awesome start to the weekend!

When: May 17, 2014

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Northern Lights’
Scarf: Target (older style)
Tee: ASOS Maternity
Leather Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors
Jeans (non Maternity): 7 for all Mankind
Bag: Coach (similar)
Booties: L.L. Bean Signature

Where: Saturday breakfast and Bloomington Farmer’s Market

In other news… We’ve hit our 100 day countdown to baby! We had an awesome ultrasound appointment last week and met with our doula for the first time and both were a great confidence boost for me. I’m nearing the end of my second trimester (things are getting REAL, people!) and I’ll be posting a recap similar to my first trimester and halfway mark. Let me know if you have any questions so I can be sure to cover that in the recap!
