WhatIWore: Remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you that lately I’ve made a habit of wearing the same piece over and over? If there’s any season to repeat, it’s now and with a statement winter coat. I love my classic plain black wool, but I also like spicing it up. I collect coats like some women collect shoes… that is to say, I love ‘em!
The team at Elie Tahari read about my tendency to wear the same piece day in and day out and asked me if I was up for a bit of a challenge in styling one of their coats for day, evening and weekend. I had my choice of outwear and selected the Dalia. The mix of tweed, leather and wool was what initially drew me to it but I also really like the back zipper detail (scroll down for close ups). A statement piece like this is an easy way to pull any outfit together. Although I’m getting out of the house less and less these days, I definitely knew I could use a new winter coat and after the week I’ve been through, I happily accepted their gift… then it was just about finding the right morning, afternoon and evening to get out! This mama could use a little something fabulous to brighten up her basic day!

A chunky sweater, jeans and boots are my basic go-to day look (which isn’t too far off of what I wear during the weekend either).
For evening, when I knew we’d be getting a sitter and I wouldn’t need easy access to fed Felix, I went with a grey and black knit dress, tights and heels. Heels! It feels like forever since I strapped on stilettos!
Finally, for weekend, I threw on a cozy sweater, leggies and a hand knit hat. I toyed around with wearing converse sneakers with this look, but the truth of the matter is, it’s easier to zip on boots in a hurry than it is to tie (and re-tie) laces, especially when I’m on a stroll with the baby.
