WhatIWore: First things first - thank you all for the lovely comments and notes you’ve sent over the past few days! Since we’re on a feminine theme this week, how about another day in pale pink? I really got into this shade last fall when I bought the moto jacket (see the other ways I’ve worn it here: one, two, three, four, five & six) and now that all things girly are on my mind, I want to wear it even more!

When: September 1, 2016

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Blouse (Maternity): ASOS
Jacket: Banana Republic (last season, similar options here)
Jeans: Jeans: AG ‘Stilt’, (non maternity here)
Heels: gift of Rockport from spring 2015

Where: Coffee Shop work session!!

We finally found a new babysitter!!! After our last gals left post graduation, it was just me and Felix, which is great in so many ways, but also gives me much less time to focus solely on getting things done. Work at home parents get all the props from me… it’s no easy task to balance! I really appreciate having a separate space (even if it’s a table at a coffee shop around the corner) for a few hours to be in the zone. So that’s what I’m doing today!!

WhatIWore: Once a month or so a group of my friends and I get together for book club. Sometimes we go with a theme, like the time we read Finding the Dragon Lady by Monique Brinson Demery, ate homemade Vietnamese food and then Skyped with the author. Last night’s book was The Hundred Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais about a chef and culinary traditions in Indian and France. We ate French cheeses, samosas, a simple rustic dinner and I brought cream puffs with a cardamom pudding filling. Why not wear my new dress by an Indian designer too!?

When: April 23, 2014

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Anytime Cat’s Eye’
Dress: Vineet Bahl via Anthropologie
Cuff: NYC street vendor
Shoes: Dolce Vita via Anthropologie (on sale, size up!)

Where: Studio, Book Club

This pretty flowy dress is another of my non maternity styles that I plan on wearing now and later (there’s a double elastic waistline so I hope it expands with me over the summer!) I can’t get enough of maxi dresses these days! I really love the embroidery and beading around the neckline, which is kind of like a built in necklace.

What I Wore | Spring Morning

@whatiwore, 21 weeks pregnant, Maternity Style, Yellow, SpringWhatIWore: Greetings from beautiful Bloomington! It’s been a gorgeous weekend and morning and I feel like I’m practically radiating happiness! Celebrating this warm morning with a new peplum style top that's not maternity and will definitely be worn in spring and summer seasons to come. I did, however, finally bite the bullet on getting maternity jeans and I wish I had done it sooner.

When: April 21, 2014

What:
Shades: Cactus Flower
Top: Calendula via Anthropologie
Jeans: Gap Maternity (get 40% today using code DAYS)
Bag: Lancel
Bracelets: vintage, C.Wonder
Shoes: Adrienne Vittadini via DSW

Where: Studio, Appointments

Buying a pair of preggers pants was a big self esteem boost. I’ve been using a rubber band at the waistband at a pair of jeans that were two sizes up and over the weekend (and over a couple of amazingly delicious meals!) I realized they just wouldn’t cut it anymore. I mean, seriously, I unbuttoned them entirely during dinner at The Purple Pig in Chicago (and if you’ve eaten there, I’m sure you can understand why!) Luckily I was tucked into the back banquet and no one was the wiser (until now!), but long story short, I really needed to upgrade to a maternity style.

These jeans were a big boost for me because I was able to buy my normal size with a maternity waistband. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been wishing for this bump to pop for a long time, but I’ve also gained 15 pounds in a few months, which can do a number on a girl’s confidence. Luckily, I’m feeling really good now that I’m playing with styles that are not only comfortable but still fit my sense of style.  Win, win!
