Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Wishlist

Every July, when it’s hot as hell outside, I start to thinking about my fall wardrobe. Some of my best pieces (and bargains) have come from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Case in point - my over the knee boots (this season’s update here), Frye Bag and brown leather boots were all sale purchases. Some things are 50% off or more which is kind of amazing for a before the season sale. I’ve been eyeing a new pair of jeans and maybe some short booties. There are some leather pieces I really love too, but I need to decide if that’s really practical for this stage in my life (which is a whole other can of worms I’ve been pondering lately).  Right now it’s early access (meaning you have to have a Nordstrom card to shop) but for the rest of us commoners, the general sale starts this Thursday. It’s also no pressure because Nordstrom is great about returns. Click on any image for more details!

What I Wore | Grayscale

WhatIWore: Guys. I’m on my 25th try at writing something for this post and just giving up at this point. My heart is not really into it now, but we’ve all gotta get up and out of bed and get dressed, right? So I’m going to talk about my outfit, which I actually really like, instead of addressing the current state of our union, which is more like an episode of Black Mirror than I ever imagined possible. I won’t ignore that things are really screwed up right now, but I’m working on my stress levels for my health and that of my daughter. Phew! 

Ok! Let’s start with something easy - the weather! Thank goodness for clear blue skies and crisp mornings! It’s actually starting to feel like it’s the right time to bring out the warmer winter gear and I love that! I was at Old Navy yesterday for a separate project when I saw this hat and jacket (both 50% off in store) and turtleneck, which is long enough to easily cover my belly (and under $20). I’ve been pinning a lot similar outfits lately, and it all came together quite easily this morning. I think one of the things that has made me more confident in wearing maternity clothes has been wearing trend forward accessories, jackets and non maternity tops when they work. In short - I just feel like myself. Way more than I did with my first pregnancy. I don’t feel dumpy like I did last time (and truthfully, fall is much more fun to get dressed than the height of summer heat!)

What I Wore | Pretty in Pink

WhatIWore: First things first - thank you all for the lovely comments and notes you’ve sent over the past few days! Since we’re on a feminine theme this week, how about another day in pale pink? I really got into this shade last fall when I bought the moto jacket (see the other ways I’ve worn it here: one, two, three, four, five & six) and now that all things girly are on my mind, I want to wear it even more!

We finally found a new babysitter!!! After our last gals left post graduation, it was just me and Felix, which is great in so many ways, but also gives me much less time to focus solely on getting things done. Work at home parents get all the props from me… it’s no easy task to balance! I really appreciate having a separate space (even if it’s a table at a coffee shop around the corner) for a few hours to be in the zone. So that’s what I’m doing today!! 

What I Wore | Blue on Blue

WhatIWore: Finally! A day we’re not being rained out! Not bright and sunny, but whatever - I’ll take it! I’ve been eager to do outfit photos because I’ve recently done a little maternity shopping and here are two of my new pieces - a pop over version of my classic fall chambray and a new pair of maternity jeans. I wish I would have tried on a pair of full panels with my last pregnancy - they are so comfortable!

I feel like I have a good chance of wearing both of these pieces through the second half of my pregnancy. The top wasn’t too pricey, but the jeans were an investment (I took all of your advice with me to the dressing room, and these were by far my favorites). I also bought some less expensive pairs (also recommended) so I’ll be able to compare and make my own recommendations later!
