WhatIWore: In another never say never moment, today I’m wearing palazzo pants! I actually bought these in the spring of last year when I was pregnant, somehow thinking they’d be good with a huge belly. They never fit under it quite right (and looked hilarious pulled over top) so this is the first time I’m wearing them in outfit photos. I wore them last night too and didn’t think I’d have pics to share, but my friend said she’d better see ‘em on the blog, so other Jess, here you go.

When: July 20, 2015

What:
Hat: Self Made by me!
Shades: Prada, thrifted (story here)
Crop Top: ModCloth
Palazzo Pants: Zara, last year
Bag: Coach
Sandals: Target

Where: Drinks and Dinner last night, breakfast date and grocery today

See Also: This crop top with two different skirts

In keeping with my promise to give myself body positive compliments, today I really like how my hair lays under my hat. The angle of the cut looks cool with the off set brim and it shows off my tattoo nicely too! What do you love about yourself today?

WhatIWore: Now that you’ve seen my new tattoo, here’s my first outfit to show it off! When I thought about the placement of my bee, I knew I wanted it to be able to show in shirts like this, but also be in a place that could be covered easily. Crop tops play so well with full skirts, don’t you think? Remember that Paula Abdul video where she’s waving her scarf while two dudes drag race? My memory of it is admittedly hazy, but this outfit kind of reminded me of that!

Shoes were a little bit of a trial and error thing, and although I would have prefered to wear heels, I think the shirt and top combo needed something delicate, so strappy flat sandals won out!

When: July 9, 2015

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in Black
Top: ModCloth
Skirt: ModCloth
Sandals: Target

Where: Girl’s Night Out

My Newest Accessory | Bee Tattoo

Bee Tattoo, #beetattoo, Honey Bee Tattoo

WhatIWore: I have some big news to share! Last week I got my first tattoo! I’ve been wanting to do this design for over a year, but after getting on a long waiting list, I found out I was pregnant and I just now got back in line for this piece!  The beautiful and talented Amanda Leadman created this design and did the tattooing. I sent her a handful of photos with my main inspiration being a textbook style drawing of a honey bee. I also sent along images of cool shading, placement and size and just let her do her thing, She did SUCH a beautiful job and I love it so much!

And for those of you wondering about the pain, I’m gonna rank getting a tattoo below getting your teeth cleaned in terms of the hurt. I mean, it’s not painless, but it’s also not natural childbirth. Honestly, I think a sunburn hurts more. Maybe Amanda just has a gentle touch? Or maybe it’s the placement of it? Or women are goddesses and have insane pain tolerances? I’d say it’s mildly uncomfortable at best!  It’s already healing up nicely (the top photo was from about 6 hours after it was finished.)
