What I Wore | Forever Young

WhatIWore: The other day I was out running errands and my son fell asleep in his carseat and one turn becomes another and all of a sudden I’m in the parking lot by the craft store. How often does this happen? Too often (replace craft store with Target and the answer is every week). Anyway, I’ve been wanting to make a flower crown forever and I finally got around to it!

I actually made two crowns and this was my third attempt at this color story. I’ll be honest - I love how beautifully it turned out, but I was a little nervous about wearing it out! Then I remembered I live in a town that’s really accepting and celebrates being yourself so I just went for it. I’m happy I did because I felt so pretty - which is how you should always feel (if you’re going for pretty!) The point - wear clothes (or flower crowns!) that make you feel like the best version of yourself on any given day. You don’t always have to dress preppy or bohemian or norm core. Life is too short to worry about what strangers think of you! 

As far as what to wear with the crown (my starting point for this outfit!) I knew I wanted something on the soft side and I remembered a dress that I first wore last fall. This time, I turned it around to make it nursing friendly and gave it a belt because it’s gotten a little big. It looks like something you could find in a vintage store (if you’re really really lucky!) I just LOVED wearing this and how the photos all came out - especially the shots with Felix. I was hoping to do a maternity shoot with flowers in my hair, but these are even sweeter!

Six Months

WhatIWore: It’s pretty mindblowing to believe I have a six month old baby already! These past months have flown by and been in slow motion at the same time. It was so much fun to look back at photos of Felix from each month and try to pick favorites. He’s changed so much! He looks more like a baby to me now than he did at 3 months, probably because his hair has thinned out and lightened up so much. He’s nearly doubled his birthweight and he’s more comfortable in 9 month sizes than he is six month onesies. No teeth or crawling yet, but lots of baby talk and giggles. We have our moments, but he really is such a good little guy. He’s such an old soul and our favorite time of day is looking into each other’s eyes when we wake up together in the morning. Felix Quirk, I love you so much! 

Merry Christmas from the Quirks

WhatIWore: Merry Christmas! We received our Christmas cards in the mail last night and I promptly addressed them all and sent them out today. Waiting a little last minute so I didn’t get out as many as I was hoping but I’m thrilled with out cute they are! My friend Chelsea took the photo for us and I used Minted to create the design and have them printed. The backs are blank for a little handwritten message and it’s a nice thick quality paper! I’m really happy with the final result! I even saved one back for us as a keepsake of Felix’s first Christmas. Won’t it be fun to look back and see him through the years someday? He’s already grown and changed so much since he was born.
