What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore today to my 24 week checkup at the doctor’s office. I like wearing shoes that can come off quickly (no bare feet on the scales) and I also plan to wear roughly the same thing each time to get an accurate track on weight gain. For me that’s been a tube skirt hiked up over the bump and a tee shirt. I wore the jacket to pull things together.

I didn’t plan it this way, but everything I’m wearing here I got at Old Navy at different times. I’ve been wearing the olive green jacket forever (years!!) and ditto for a basic black v-neck tee. The skirt is regular sizing, so it’s a good wear now, wear later type item (and in a soft knit - it’s very comfortable!) Also! Don’t forget their Kids and Baby sale starts today!

This is the kind of outfit that’s pretty easy to re-create at all price points and to get similar pieces from a variety of stores. I’ll likely wear it again this spring or next fall (it would work well for nursing too!)

When: September 15, 2016

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Jacket: Old Navy (older style - similar here)
Tee: Old Navy

Nordstrom Sale Spotlight | Closet Classics

image

Some pieces in your closet get a lot more wear and tear than others, like hangbags, jeans and boots. I always recommend buying the best quality you can afford in these categories, so I’ve found pieces at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that are very similar to my most loved classics and at great prices! Click above on any image or in the copy below!

Black Leather Handbags - I LOVE my little black Coach cross body (similar here) - it’s one of my most used handbags (see photo here). It’s big enough for a wallet, phone plus a diaper and some wipes (i’ve never been big into diaper bags). If vegan styles are more your thing, they’re are a lot of amazing styles for sale too. Black is great to wear with everything, but if you’ve got that covered, many styles are offered in other colors as well!

Denim - I’ve found great jeans at all price points, but if you’ve been saving for premium denim, now is the time to grab a pair. I’ve tried to pick pairs that are still available in multiple sizes, but they are going fast! Click any image above to shop the specific style.

Booties - I’ve been a big fan of booties in the past couple of seasons - I think they look great with skinny jeans, under flares or with a skirt or dress. All of these pairs are under $200 (most under $100).

What I Wore | Professor Quirk

WhatIWore: Guess what?!? I’m back at work! I’m teaching one course (Fashion Illustration and Research) as an adjunct at IU and this is what I wore for our second class meeting. I have such a great group this year and I can’t wait to see what they draw. I don’t fancy myself to be a real professor, but I really do love teaching! I also like that art teachers can be a little more creative in their wardrobes. Our department is pretty casual so I usually mix it up with anything from dark denim to skirts and dresses.

When: January 14, 2015

What:
Shades: Target (similar, on clearance!)
Necklace: Lulu*s
Blouse: Yumi Kim via Anthropologie (sold out)
Skirt: Target
Tights: We Love Colors
Booties: Rag + Bone

Where: Teaching

Why: I felt so great in this outfit - it’s a lot more dressed up than my normal day in day out in mommy gear. That said, the top has a great front plaket for nursing. Oh yea… for those of you asking…here’s my haircut! I actually want to get another inch or two chopped off soon!
