What I Wore | Wearing Many Hats
WhatIWore: I think summer is when I hit my stride. For the past few weeks I want to say “THIS IS MY FAVORITE OUTFIT POST EVER,” only to trump by something I like more a few days later. There are lots of things I love about these photos, Felix being a lil dollup of cuteness, first and foremost. I keep cooing at my computer screen as I edit photos here in the coffee shop. I’m also really into my new hat! This is my first piece of hand crafted millinery of the year and now I’m on a roll with a second hat waiting to get wired and banded! Let me tell you more about it…
When: June 23, 2015
What:
Hat: Designed and hand crafted by… me!
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in Crazy Tort
Tee: J.Crew (sold out)
Skirt: Target (similar here)

This is my first hat that I’ve made using custom made blocks. The crown (top part of the hat) is from an English block maker and the brim was a collaboration with a team of local woodworkers. I often find that the back of my hats either hit my collars weird (like with a jean jacket) or just have too much bulk in the back for how I like to wear them. With this style, I’ve designed the brim to be wider in the front. Pretty cool! My hat making skills have come a long way in the past year and I’d love to be able to set aside more time to make them. I’ve tinkered with the idea of selling them online too!
*Ok. So I had a bag of clothes that I wasn’t wearing and decided to try a new place in town to sell them. While they were assessing my cast offs, I found a couple cute J.Crew tops and then… a pair of sunglasses in a case that looked pretty rad. Like, way too cool to be in a resale store in Bloomington Indiana. I asked to try them on, saw they were Prada and thought “no way, totally fake”… but I looked up the serial number online and an optical shop came up so my best guess is that some rich IU kid lost them at a bar and someone else brought them in for cash. I dunno. They could be fake too? But the label says Prada and they definitely were not a Prada price point and they’re cute, so hey! Whatever works!
